Press Release

April 5, 2018

THE BRUCE COUNTY WOMEN’S FAIR TAKES PLACE SATURDAY, MAY 5 2018 FROM 11 TO 4:30 PM AT THE BRUCE COUNTY MUSEUM IN SOUTHAMPTON

PRESS RELEASE

April 5, 2018

Inspired by the role women continue to play in shaping Canada, this year's theme for International Women's Day was #MyFeminism, which simply means equality – equality for women, men and people of all gender identities. Achieving gender equality means that everyone has the opportunity to reach their full potential.

The 2018 Bruce County Women’s Show will take place on Saturday, May 5, 2018 from 11:00 am to 4:30 pm. At the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre.

Our Official Sponsor this year is Carolyn Wilson, Wilfred McIntee Co. Ltd. Brokerage, Sales Representative, in Southampton.

The Show is lucky to have again this year, Kathy Samson as the Master of Ceremonies.

The Trade Show will be represented by publishers and authors, financial advisors, travel and holidays, wellness and holistic practices, jewelry and retail, food, and Life coaching.

Blazing a Trail for others to follow.

The 2018 Bruce County Women’s Show will feature two discussion panels: “The Power of Women Transforming Our Communities” integrated by Anne Eadie, Mayor of Kincardine; Cheryl Grace, Saugeen Shores Councillor; Colleen Schenk, School Trustee and Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron Bruce where we will learn about the issues that motivated these women to run for public office, the barriers they faced, their achievements and the impact they have in the communities they represent and the trail they blazed for others to follow.

The#MeToo Movement. How did we get here? Where do we go from Here?

Kiera Merriam from the Saugeen Shores Hub; Sabrina Sutherland, from Attawapiskat First Nation, Storyteller, writer and poet; Stephanie Wilson-Chapin, Digital News Senior Director, CTV, and Poet & Artist Judy Lowry, will explore the issues around this subject which has been brought up to the forefront of social media by those who have suffered abused and sexual harassment. This is not new, but the fact that their voices are no longer suppressed, present an opportunity perhaps to change our attitudes and look for solutions to this problem.

To help us Move Forward, Rev. Hayse Hogan, founder of The Chakra House of Healing, will present us with some tools when she lead us through an inspiring session “Time to Be the Change”.

Raylene Rebryna will delight the audience with some melodies and songs while BJ will energize us into movement, through her Zumba movements.

The much anticipated Designer Handbag Fundraiser in benefit of the Huron Shores Hospice will see a lucky winner take away a luxurious item.

Mary Ellen Harrigan Catering will sell delicious and nutritious wraps and salads for lunch and other gourmet foods.

Throughout the day, Door Prizes will be drawn for gift certificates from Ristorante Rosina, Elk & Finch, Hanover Holidays, Southampton Oil Company, BareBirch, Lac Boutique, The Huron Group.

Admission $25 paid in Advance $30.00 at the door
